Updated

A debt offset is a non-cash settlement: the same amount reduces a customer receivable and a supplier payable. It does not move cash, stock, or tax.

Commands and states#

State Command What happens
Draft Offset debt Offset. Receivable and payable both fall by Amount.

Offset debt (Offset) is bound to Draft. Offset is read-only. The stored captions match the names: Draft, Offset.

The command refuses a foreign sales contract or a supplier billed in another currency than the legal entity. The amount may not exceed the open receivable (by basis when Receivable basis is set, else the customer × contract balance) or the open payable (by basis when Payable basis is set, else the supplier balance, with the supplier contract when the header has one).

Registers#

On Offset:

  • Receivable minus Amount, by customer and sales contract (DebtOffsetReceivableTx).
  • ReceivableByBasis minus Amount, by customer, sales contract, and receivable basis. An empty basis is the advance slice.
  • Payable minus Amount, by supplier. Legal entity is an analytic when the header has one. Supplier contract is an analytic when the header has one (DebtOffsetPayableTx).
  • PayableByBasis minus Amount, by supplier and payable basis. An empty basis is the advance slice. Supplier contract is an analytic when the header has one.
  • GL when Legal entity is set and accounting settings exist: debit payables, credit receivables (DebtOffsetGLTx). A missing account or period writes no ledger legs; the debts still move.
