Cancel an order
Updated
Close a submitted or approved sales order so it cannot be edited again. Use this when the customer will not take the goods, not when the lines still need a fix.
Note
Cancel order is final. The order becomes Cancelled. Reject order is a different button: it sends Submitted back to Draft so the agent can edit. Cancellation writes no debt, revenue, or tax of its own.
How to#
To cancel an order, open Ribbon → Sales → Documents → Sales orders.
Sales order list. The product is in English.
Open an order in Submitted or Approved. Then press Cancel order.
The order becomes Cancelled. The card can no longer be edited.
The state on the card does not close the order. Only Cancel order does. Until you press it, the order stays Submitted or Approved, however many times you save.
On Approved, a linked sales realization is cancelled only while that realization is not Released. Draft pick tasks of the order are deleted. A Confirmed pick task stays.
Example
The order is 5 pieces at price 100. State is Submitted. Nothing is reserved yet, and no realization exists. 5 × 100 is never debt — cancellation writes none.
After Cancel order: the order is Cancelled. Still no realization and nothing reserved.
Cancel an Approved order whose realization is still Reserved: that realization is cancelled with the order. Cancel after the realization is already Released: the order is Cancelled, the realization stays Released.
Submitted, then cancelled Approved + Reserved, then cancelled Approved + Released, then cancelled Order Cancelled Cancelled Cancelled Realization none cancelled Released Reservation none gone already issued
Tip
Cancel order is not on a Draft. Press Submit order first, or use Reject order only while the order is Submitted and you want it back as a draft. Cancel order is also not on Delivered.
If the command refuses#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Cancel order is not on the card | The order is not Submitted or Approved. Press Submit order first, or use Reject order on Submitted when the lines still need a fix. |
| The order is already Cancelled | Cancellation is final for this order. Create a new order if the customer still wants the goods. |
| The linked realization is still Released | The realization was already issued. Cancel order does not cancel a Released realization. A credit note is a separate document — Issue a credit note. |
| A pick task is still Confirmed | Cancel order deletes only Draft pick tasks. A confirmed pick stays. |
