Create a driver
Updated
Create a driver when a delivery trip needs the person behind the wheel. Saving the card stores that person; it does not start a trip.
Note
This card is not a sales agent and not an HR employee. Those are different lists. Save writes no trip. The van leaves on a delivery trip — Run a delivery trip.
How to#
To create a driver, open Ribbon → Sales → Dictionaries → Drivers.
Press New. Fill Name. Phone and License can stay empty. Leave Disabled empty so the driver is live. Save. The card receives an ID and the row appears in Drivers. No trip is created.
Name is required, up to 160 characters. Phone is up to 32. License is up to 40.
Then open Ribbon → Sales → Documents → Delivery trips. On a new trip, pick this Driver.
Example
- Name Omar Nasser
- License empty
Save. The list shows Omar Nasser. A second card with License SA-DL-448812 is refused: that number already belongs to Ahmed Fathy. Several drivers may all leave License empty.
Tip
Tick Disabled later when this person no longer drives: the card stays for history. A trip that names a disabled driver is refused. Empty License is allowed. Two drivers cannot share a license even when the letters differ in case.
If the command refuses#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The save says to fill Name | Fill Name. Spaces only do not count. |
| The save says this License already belongs to another driver | Pick another License, or open that other driver. The match ignores letter case. |
| You expected a trip after Save | The trip is a different document — Run a delivery trip. |
