Issue a debit note

Updated

Use a sales debit note when a released realization charged too little tax. Tax debt rises. The goods stay where they are, and the realization stays Released.

Note

A debit note does not move stock and does not change the realization. It adds tax; it does not reverse tax. A credit note is the document that reduces tax.

How to#

To issue a debit note, open Ribbon → Sales → Documents → Sales debit notes.

Press New. Fill Customer, Outlet, Contract, Original invoice, and Lines, Save. Then press Post sales debit note.

Enter the extra charge on Lines. Those lines are not copied from the realization.

The state becomes Posted. Tax debt increases. Stock does not change. The realization stays Released.

The state on the card does not move the note. Only Post sales debit note does. Until you press it, the note stays Draft, however many times you save.

Example

Same sale: 10 pieces at 100 each, VAT 15%. The customer owes 1,150.

A debit note for 1 extra piece at 100 does not ship another piece. It adds the tax that was missing on 100: 15.

After the sale After the debit note
Customer owes 1,150 1,165
VAT 150 165
Pieces still out 10 10

Tip

Debit-note Lines are an extra charge. They are not copied from the realization. Posted is read-only.
