Transfer a debt
Updated
Move what a customer owes, or what you owe a supplier, from one basis to another without changing the total. You can also hand the same amount to another customer or supplier.
Note
This document does not take cash and does not offset a customer against a supplier. Draft does not post. Customer debt is written by a Released sales realization, not by this card. Clearing both sides of the same party is Offset a debt. Dropping a debt is Write off a debt.
How to#
To transfer a debt, open Ribbon → Settlements → Documents → Debt transfers.
Press New. Fill Legal entity. Set Side to Receivable or Payable. For Receivable, fill Customer and Sales contract. For Payable, fill Supplier. Fill From basis, To basis, and Amount. To hand the debt to another party, fill To customer and To sales contract, or To supplier and To supplier contract. Save. The card receives a Number and stays Draft. The open debt stays as it was.
Then press Transfer debt. The state becomes Transferred. The amount leaves From basis and lands on To basis. On the same customer and contract, the total owed does not change. The card is read-only.
The state on the card does not move the document. Only Transfer debt does. Until you press it, the document stays Draft, however many times you save.
Example
One customer, two sales realizations: the first still holds 1,000, the second 400. Transfer Amount 300 from the first to the second.
After Transfer debt, the first falls by 300: 1,000 − 300 = 700. The second rises by 300: 400 + 300 = 700. The customer still owes 700 + 700 = 1,400. A Draft leaves 1,000 and 400.
Before transfer After transfer First realization 1,000 700 Second realization 400 700 Customer total 1,400 1,400
Tip
On the same party and contract, fill both bases and make them different. An empty From basis is only for a move to another customer, supplier, or contract. Empty To customer or To supplier keeps the same party. One currency only: the source and the target must bill in the legal entity's currency.
