Create a currency
Updated
Create a currency when a legal entity, a cash desk, a bank account, or a document needs a named money unit. Amount-in-words forms live on this card. The live rate does not.
Note
Save writes no exchange rate and no ledger. Dated rates are a different list — Create an exchange rate.
How to#
To create a currency, open Ribbon → Common → Dictionaries → Currencies.
Press New. Fill Name and Code. Name is required, up to 256 characters, and can be translated. Code is required and is 3 characters. Symbol can stay empty; when filled it is 8 characters. Save. The card receives an ID and the row appears in Currencies. There is still no rate and no ledger movement.
The Amount in words group is optional: Unit, 1 (one), Unit, 2–4 (few), Unit, 5+ (many), Unit gender, Fraction, 1 (one), Fraction, 2–4 (few), Fraction, 5+ (many), and Fraction gender. The unit and fraction names can be translated. Empty Unit, 2–4 (few) uses Unit, 5+ (many). Empty Fraction, 2–4 (few) uses Fraction, 5+ (many). Empty word forms leave amount-in-words without those names.
Unit gender and Fraction gender are Masculine, Feminine, or Neuter. They are not the Gender dictionary.
Then a legal entity, a cash desk, or a bank account can pick this Currency. Until you add a dated rate, documents have no factor for this currency.
Example
The stand already has Saudi Riyal, Code SAR.
- Name Gulf Dinar
- Code GDN
- Symbol GD
- Amount in words empty
Save. The list shows Gulf Dinar. No rate is stored. A later legal entity, cash desk, or bank account can pick Gulf Dinar.
Tip
Code is not unique. A second row with the same Code saves. Code is not checked as ISO 4217.
