Create a bank account

Updated

Create a bank account when the company will pay or receive through a current account at a bank. The card is the account later money documents name.

Note

Save on the bank account does not move the bank balance. Payments do: Record a bank payment, Vendor payment, Customer payment, Transfer money.

How to#

To create a bank account, open Ribbon → Accounting → Dictionaries → Bank accounts.

Press New. Fill Name. Pick Legal entity. Pick Currency. Account number (IBAN), Bank, and Ledger account can stay empty. Leave Disabled off. Save. The card receives an ID and the row appears in Bank accounts. The bank balance is still zero.

Currency is the only currency this account holds. A money document that names this Bank account must be in that currency.

Empty Ledger account uses Cash account from Set ledger accounts. Fill Ledger account when this account should post to its own leaf. Tick Disabled later when you no longer pay or receive through this account: the card stays for history.

Then open a payment or a transfer and pick this Bank account. Until you post that document, the bank balance stays as it was.

Example

Legal entity Northstar Trading Company already exists on the stand.

  • Name Riyadh SAR current
  • Legal entity Northstar Trading Company
  • Currency SAR
  • Ledger account empty

Save. The bank balance is still zero. A later vendor payment that picks Riyadh SAR current must be in SAR.

Tip

If the Legal entity picker is empty, create the company first. Fill Account number (IBAN) and Bank when you need them on print forms; they are not required to save.
