Schedule operations

Updated

Write a day on each operation of one production order. The order stays a draft or stays in work. Scheduling does not release components and does not receive the product.

Note

Schedule operations plans this order against the days the other orders already hold. Replan shop is a different button: it asks for confirmation and plans every Released order again. Neither button marks the work done — that is Confirm operations.

How to#

To schedule operations, open Ribbon → Production → Documents → Production orders. Open an order in Draft or Released. Operations must already be on the card.

Press Schedule operations. Each row gets a Scheduled on day, in Sequence, against the remaining minutes of its Work center that day.

A center with Capacity, min/day of 100 and two operations of 80 puts the first row on the order date and the second on the next day. Two operations of 30 stay on one day. Empty capacity writes nothing. While Scheduled on is empty, those minutes sit on the order date.

When the work center has a Shift calendar and Machines, the command skips closed days and writes Machine on each row: the first machine with room that day. Capacity, min/day is then ignored. An operation longer than one machine's shift lands on the first working day; the program does not split it across days or machines.

Only operations on a Released order that are not yet confirmed sit in the load. Confirming a row unloads the center: those minutes leave the queue even while the order is still in work. Release to shop can warn that a day is overloaded — it names the work center, the date, scheduled minutes, and capacity — and still release the order.

The order state does not change. Draft stays Draft. Released stays Released. The product stays out of stock.

The state on the card does not write the days. Only Schedule operations does. Until you press it, Scheduled on stays empty, however many times you save.

Example

The order date is 24 September. The work center has Capacity, min/day 100. Sequence 10 takes 80 minutes, leaving 20 that day. Sequence 20 also takes 80, which does not fit in the remaining 20, so sequence 20 moves to the next day.

Sequence Scheduled on
10 (80 min) 24 September
20 (80 min) 25 September

Tip

If Operations is empty, give the product a routing in Ribbon → Production → Dictionaries → Routings and press Expand bill of materials on a Draft. Replan shop is also on Draft and Released: raise Priority or fill Need by on urgent orders, Save, then press Replan shop and confirm. That rebuilds every released order. Confirmed rows keep their day. Confirm operations is the button that closes the shift.

If the command refuses#

What you see What to do
Schedule operations is not on the card The order is Finished. Open a Draft or Released order.
The command says no dates were written: there are no operations, or the order is already finished Create a routing, press Expand bill of materials on Draft, then schedule again. A Finished order has no days to write.
Scheduled on stayed empty after the command The work center has no Capacity, min/day and no Shift calendar. Minutes stay on the order date until you fill one of those.
Release to shop warns that a day is overloaded Capacity is a warning, not a block. Schedule first if you want the days split, or release anyway.
