Choose a shipment scheme

Updated

Decide how an approved sales order gets goods from storage onto the cell the invoice will ship from. The scheme is a setting. It runs on the next approval, not on a button of its own.

Note

Shipment scheme does nothing while Enforce warehouse tasks is off. Off is the default. Turn that flag on first, or approval neither posts a transfer nor creates a pick task.

How to#

To choose a shipment scheme, open Ribbon → Inventory → Settings → Inventory settings. The card is one row. Both fields sit in Warehouse locations.

Turn Enforce warehouse tasks on. Save.

Then pick Shipment scheme. Save again.

Scheme What the next Approve order does
Simple If storage has enough for the whole line, the program posts transfers onto the order's Ship-from location. The storekeeper does not confirm a pick. The pick-task list gains nothing.
Extended One Draft pick task per storage cell that contributes quantity. On-hand stock stays until Confirm pick.
Not set, or the field empty Same as Extended.

A line the store cannot cover in full gets no transfer and no draft. The program does not move a part: the whole line must fit, or nothing moves.

The scheme does not change orders that are already approved. Transfers or drafts already created stay. The new value applies to the next approval.

There are two picking screens. Ribbon → Inventory → Documents → Picking is the store task that moves stock from storage to the picking cell. A sales realization also has Start picking, Mark packed, and Mark shipped; those buttons move the invoice through shipment states and do not confirm a pick. Confirm the pick first, then issue the invoice.

Example

The order line is 20. Three storage cells hold 10, 5, and 7 — 22 in total.

Simple posts three transfers that move 20 onto the ship-from cell. 2 stay in storage.

Before approval After Simple
Storage (all cells) 22 2
Ship-from cell 0 20

Extended opens three draft pick tasks for 10, 5, and 5. On-hand stays 22 until Confirm pick.

Before approval After Extended
On-hand in storage 22 22
Draft pick quantity 0 20

Tip

Turning the flag off later leaves cells and documents as they are. The next approval then creates neither a transfer nor a pick. Folding several drafts from one storage cell is Gather pick wave — that path is on Pick goods, not here.

If the command refuses#

What you see What to do
Approval created no transfer and no pick Enforce warehouse tasks is off, or the field is empty. Turn it on, Save, then approve the next order.
Simple is set and storage still did not move All storage cells together have less than the line. Receive or put away stock, or lower the quantity. A part of the line is not moved.
The pick-task list is empty after Simple That is the scheme. Open the transfers linked to the order, or switch the next order to Extended.
You changed the scheme and an old order did not change The new scheme applies to the next Approve order. Already created transfers and drafts stay.
