Create a customer

Create a customer when a party will buy from you. Saving the card stores that party; a sales order still needs a contract.
Note
Save posts no debt, tax, or stock. The invoice is what writes those. The contract is a separate card — Create a sales contract. The full path (company, customer, outlet, item, contract) is Customer onboarding.
How to#
To create a customer, open Ribbon → Sales → Dictionaries → Customers.
Press New. Fill Name and Customer type. Save. The row is in Customers, and ID is issued and read-only.
Customer type is Business, Consumer, or Retail. The picker shows those names. The types live under Ribbon → Sales → Dictionaries → Customer types.
Full name, Phone, Email, Address, Tax reg. number, Payment term, Price type, Credit limit, and Notes can stay empty. Leave Disabled off. Full name is the legal name for print forms; Name stays the short name you search for.
Payment term may already be filled from Default payment term in Sales settings. How that default is set is in Customer onboarding.
Then open Ribbon → Sales → Documents → Sales orders. On a new order, pick this Customer. The order still needs a Contract.
Example
- Name Podil Grocery
- Customer type Business
Save. The list shows Podil Grocery. There is still no debt. A sales order that picks Podil Grocery is refused until a contract of that customer is in force.
Tip
Tick Disabled later when you no longer sell to this party: the card stays for history and settlements. Saving a customer does not create an outlet or a contract.
If the command refuses#
