Transfer money
Updated
Move money from one of the company's cash desks or bank accounts to another: cash into the bank, bank to bank, desk to desk, or a currency exchange. There is no customer or supplier on this document.
Note
A money transfer does not pay a supplier and does not receive from a customer. Paying by cost article with no counterparty is Record a bank payment. Other money in that is not a customer payment is Record other income.
How to#
To transfer money, open Ribbon → Accounting → Documents → Money transfers.
Press New. Fill Legal entity and Currency (the source currency). Pick exactly one source: From cash desk or From bank account. Pick exactly one target: To cash desk or To bank account. Fill Amount. Description can stay empty. Save. The card stays Draft. Neither balance has moved.
Then press Post transfer. The state becomes Posted. The source balance falls by Amount. The target balance rises by Amount, or by Amount received when the target is in another currency. The card is read-only.
The state on the card does not post the transfer. Only Post transfer does. Until you press it, the document stays Draft, however many times you save.
When the target holds another currency, fill Amount received (what that desk or account takes in its own currency). Fill Exchange rate when the source currency is not the legal entity's. Fill Target exchange rate when the target currency is not the legal entity's. On a transfer where both sides share the document currency, Amount received is cleared on posting — it means nothing there.
Example
You move 31,535 UAH from a UAH desk into a USD desk. The USD desk takes 700 in its own currency.
- Currency UAH
- From cash desk a UAH desk
- To cash desk a USD desk
- Amount 31,535
- Amount received 700
Post transfer. The UAH desk falls by 31,535. The USD desk rises by 700.
Before Post transfer After UAH desk as it was down 31,535 USD desk as it was up 700
Tip
Fill one source and one target, never both a desk and an account on the same side, and never the same desk or account on both sides. The source must hold Currency. Two desks that share one ledger account still move the cash balances; there may be nothing to post in the book. Bank accounts are Ribbon → Accounting → Dictionaries → Bank accounts. Cash desks are Ribbon → Accounting → Dictionaries → Cash desks.
