Table part
Updated
A table part is the lines of a document. Each line is a row with its own fields. The row does not exist without its document.
What a person sees#
A grid on the document card. Lines on a sales order is a table part.
What a developer declares#
A table-part type, then a binding from the document to that type. A reference field on the line is an EDT pointing at a dictionary. SalesOrderLines.Item points at Item.
The line event handler sees the header as Owner<Document>(context) from memory of the form. OnFieldChanged fills only empty dependents — Save runs the same hooks.
Optional scalars on a line are nullable (decimal?, DateTime?). The same optional scalar on the header is not. Empty on a line is null. Empty on a header date is the sentinel 1901-01-01 (Year < 1902). A reference on a line is still Guid — empty is Guid.Empty.
