Install a print agent
Updated
Print from ZuloOne onto a printer attached to a warehouse PC or a Linux box, not only through the browser.
Note
The agent signs in as you, with the same name and password as the office. Download it from your cabinet → Apps. Printers you tick appear under Administrator → Printing → Printers. An administrator grants them on the role Printers tab and, if needed, extra ticks on the user card.
How to#
To install a print agent, open your cabinet — getzulo.com/cabinet → Apps.
On Windows, install the agent while logged in as the account that can see the printers. A service running as LocalSystem will not list them.
Press Download for Windows. Unzip the archive to a folder that stays on the PC (for example C:\Program Files\ZuloOne Print Agent).
Run zulo-print-agent-tray.exe. The tray icon ZuloOne Print Agent appears. Open Settings.
Fill Tenant with only the name — acme, not https://acme.zulo.one. Fill User and Password. Press Sign in. The menu then shows Sign out instead.
Tick the printers this office may use. Press Save printers.
In the same window press Install service. That starts a background worker as you (so USB printers stay visible) and a logon task so it comes back after reboot. The menu then shows Stop service, Restart service, and Remove service. Press Restart service after a new sign-in so the worker picks up the session.
On Linux, download the .deb from the same Apps block. Install it (sudo dpkg -i zulo-print-agent.deb), then run ZuloOne Print Agent from the applications menu. Sign in the same way. Tick CUPS printers, press Save, then press enable so the agent starts on login.
To print, open a saved document and press Print. In Printer, choose the agent printer (name plus machine). Leave System printer if you want the browser dialog instead. Pick the form. Press Print. The job goes to Ribbon → Administrator → Printing → Print queue. Preview still opens in the browser.
Example
- Tenant acme
- User as in the office
After Sign in, tick the printers, Save printers, then Install service. That printer is listed in the Print dialog next to System printer. Print on it sends the job to Print queue.
Tip
On Linux, CUPS must list the printers (
lpstat -a) and the user who runs the agent must be allowed to print. Hold, Cancel, and Reprint on the queue need extra rights; being allowed to print is not enough.
If the command refuses#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The printer is missing from the Print dialog | An administrator has not granted it on your role or user card. |
| The agent is Offline | Start the service from the tray (Start service on Windows) or press systemctl start (Linux). Sign in again if the session expired. |
| The job sits in Queued | The ticked printer's name must still exist on that machine. |
| The job is Error | Open the queue row. PDFs need a registered PDF handler on Windows. Raw or ZPL jobs need a driver that accepts raw. |
| The managed printer queue prints one document at a time. Choose System printer to print the selection together. | Choose System printer for a batch. |
