Back up an environment
Updated
A backup is a copy of one environment's database at a moment you chose. You take it from the environment page. You restore it onto Test or Development from the library. You do not restore it onto Production from this library.
Note
Nothing is removed automatically. When the library is full, delete a backup you no longer need. Backups Zulo took before an upgrade or a package install sit under Taken by Zulo: you can restore those onto Test or Development too; they do not count against your limit, and you cannot delete them.
The portal is lcp.getzulo.com. Its buttons are in English.
How to#
To take a backup, sign in at lcp.getzulo.com and open the tenant. Open Environments, then the stand you want (Production is allowed). On Back up, optionally fill Name. Press Back up now. The copy goes into Asset library → Database backups and stays until someone deletes it.
To restore, open Asset library → Database backups. On the row, pick Restore onto a running Test or Development. Type that environment's name to confirm. Press Restore. The restore replaces that environment's data. It runs the environment on the platform that wrote the backup. A backup of Production arrives with mail and outbound integrations switched off.
To delete one of your backups, open Delete… on the row and press Delete this backup. Its file is removed for good.
A restore keeps what the environment had set aside until the next change. If there is no Test or Development running, the restore column says so — deploy one first.
Example
Before a month-end close on Production: open Production, Name
Month-end close, Back up now.To rehearse a restore: on Database backups, Restore onto
acme-test, typeacme-test, Restore. Production is untouched.
Tip
Take a named backup of Production before releasing a package if you want a restore point you named, on top of the snapshot the release takes itself.
If the command refuses#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| No running Test or Development environment. | Deploy a Test environment, then Restore. Production is not a restore target here. |
| The library is full | Delete this backup on a copy you no longer need, then Back up now again. |
| Type-its-name field rejects Restore | Type the slug of the target environment, not a display title. |
| Taken by Zulo has no Delete… | Those copies are kept by Zulo's retention. Restore them; do not expect a delete button. |
