Create a country

Updated

Create a country when a company, address, or other card needs a place that is not already in the list. Saving the card stores that place; it does not create a legal entity.

Note

Save writes no company. The company is a different card — Create a legal entity.

How to#

To create a country, open Ribbon → Common → Dictionaries → Countries.

Load catalogs on Tenant setup often already fills this list — Open a stand. Press New when the country you need is missing.

Fill Name. ISO2 code, ISO3 code, Phone code, and Currency can stay empty. Save. The card receives an ID and the row appears in Countries. No company is created.

Name is required, up to 256 characters, and can be translated. ISO2 code is up to 2 characters. ISO3 code is up to 3. Phone code is up to 8. Those three fields and Currency are optional and not unique.

Empty Currency may fill from record defaults when those defaults are set. Leave it empty when no default is set: Save still succeeds.

Then a legal entity can pick this row in Country.

Example

  • Name Kosovo
  • ISO2 code XK
  • ISO3 code XKX
  • Phone code empty
  • Currency empty

Save. The list shows Kosovo. A second card may reuse ISO2 code XK. A legal entity can now pick Kosovo in Country.

Tip

ISO2 code and ISO3 code are not checked against ISO 3166 and are not unique. This card does not store tax jurisdiction or a localization package.
